The choice for car covers is huge. I know that I myself found the it dazzling with so many different covers, and makes. There was so much to choose from that I just didn't know where to start. But now, I am on the other side of the fence, together with my new car cover, and want to show you ways how to select the cover that is good for you, without too much of a headache.
The first thing you want to think about is where you store your car. Do you keep it in a garage, or in the outdoors? If you have a garage, there are simpler, less complicated car covers, that are obviously cheaper than outdoor covers, and you don't have to spend hours deciding what level of protection you need. Indoor car covers are glorified dust sheets with basic outdoor protection for the occasional use. This narrows down your selection, and prices quite a bit.
If you keep your car outdoors, you will then need to ask yourself what type of climate you live in. What is your environment like? What is the weather generally like? This is of course important as someone living in Phoenix will have very different needs to someone living in New York. Whereas for one, a heavily waterproof car cover is unnecessary, for another, an ultra violet resistant cover, is just not good enough. So yes, it is important what your weather life is like.
Once you have answered those questions you will find that you have a much smaller selection in front of you. You will see that there are still different types and you will then need to decide the size of cover you want. Generally speaking, there are three sizes, ascending in prices; universal, semi-custom and custom. All of the have their own advantages and disadvantages, but the deciding factor may well lie on your budget.
They say the custom offers the best type of protection, but that does not mean in any way that the universal is no good. In fact as long as you purchase from a good quality company, such as Covercraft or Coverking, you are secure with the knowledge that the cover will be a good one. Custom covers will offer you the same protection as universal, but to a higher degree. They are also more stylish and look neater.
Do not get conned into buying an imitation cover. The company is vital as you want to be sure that you have a good quality cover from a reliable source. This can only be achieved with originals, and quite frankly it's not worth buying a second-rate car cover. Your car was expensive enough as it is, you want to be sure that the protection you're giving it is good enough for what it deserves.
Once you have gone through all these pointers you will find that you're probably left will just one cover in your hand, in which case, buy it and use it well - they're life savers!
